President’s Welcome

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Virgin Islands National Guard Officer Association Website. As I accept responsibility as the new President, I do so with mixed emotions. First, because I hate to see my predecessor LTC (Ret) Beresford Edwards leave. He has done an outstanding job as president of our Association for over twelve years and is well respected by everyone locally and abroad. He has grown the membership of our organization and has kept us in the over 100% membership category during his entire tenure.
Although our Association is the smallest, he has ensured that our membership had a voice to address issues and concerns not only to the Legislature of the Virgin Island but to the National Guard Association of the United States in Washington DC.
I would like to thank the membership for their demonstrated faith in me as their next president and pray by God’s grace I can live up to their expectations and the legacy left behind by my predecessor. It is my hope, with the help of the support staff, to maintain our current membership strength while finding new and innovative ways to raise funds for the organization. I look forward to learning my duties and responsibilities and improving upon the relevance of our organization for the future.
— COL (Ret) Aubrey L. Ruan, Jr.
